BENEFITS OF ORPS

The Oklahoma Recreation and Park Society is committed to providing both professional and citizen members with resources and networking opportunities to assist them in their role as employees and advocates for park and recreation services.

ORPS prides itself in personalized service and strives to continuously update those services based on the need of members. Benefits include:

      1. Leadership Opportunities

Members have numerous opportunities to develop leadership abilities and build credentials in the parks, recreation and leisure service field.  Leadership positions are available at the state, regional and national levels.

      2. Continuing Education 

ORPS provides quality continuing education through workshops that offer from .1 – .4 hours of instruction to the annual state conference where a total of 1.0 credits are possible.  All classes are IACET approved through Oklahoma State University.

      3. Networking

Membership in ORPS provides invaluable personal opportunity throughout the year to meet other people who work and volunteer in parks and recreation developing contacts who are eager to share ideas and experiences.

      4. Professional Development

All meetings of the ORPS board and committees, educational sessions both statewide and national and Society projects and activities are open to members and posted on the WEB site or sent via email reminder.  Six publications are provided throughout the year that contain news and membership events. Submission of materials by members is always welcome.  The publications are electronic or emailed.  Hardcopy is provided by request.  The annual ORPS directory provides members the link to fellow professionals, agencies and commercial suppliers.  The membership directory is provided in electronic format and hard-copy by request and available exclusively to members.  The directory is updated annually.
